Description

This is our 5th annual tournament. We at Norco Traditional Taekwon-Do School promote a fun and competitive environment where competitors can showcase their skills and abilities in patterns and sparring. We look forward to creating both friendships amongst competitors and relationships with other schools. All competitors will receive a tournament t-shirt. All competitors will receive placement medals for every place in each event.

2 Events

P • Patterns

Patterns (sets, forms and katas): Each bracket will consist of 4 participants competing for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. Each place will receive a medal. The patterns will be judged by Olympic scoring. The referee will start and stop each pattern. The judges will turn in their scores to the referee for a combined score of 1-10. There will be no "re-starts" or "do-overs" during pattern competition. In the event of a tie there will be a tie breaker.

Individual Event
90 seconds to perform

S • Sparring

Brackets will be single elimination with a play off for 3rd and 4th. Each bracket will consist of 4 participants competing for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. Each place will receive a medal. There will be "2" 1-minute rounds of "continuous" sparring that will be scored on a "10/9" card. Punches and kicks "must be seen (impact) and heard by judges" to be scored. The center referee will control the star, stop and safety of the match. The corner judges will score all points. All decisions will be final. Every attempt upon registration and sign in will be made to ensure fairness and equality of the bracket draws. The "host" reserves the right to make any necessary changes up to the beginning of the bracket matches. Any uncontrolled or miss use of your martial art will be subject to warnings, and point deductions including disqualification. Illegal contact will consist of any sweeps, throws, takedowns, contact below the belt, and contact to the front of the face, back of the head, neck or center back (spine) Legal contact "juniors" (juniors-this group will be decided on the day of the tournament) will be allowed any (stationary, sliding, spinning, hooking or jumping) kick or punch to the body. They will also be allowed any turning/roundhouse, crescent or hooking kick to the head. Lastly, they will be allowed to use only a ridge hand, back fist and hammer fist to the head. Keep in mind you are only allowed to strike the side and top of the helmet on the head Legal contact "seniors" (seniors-this group will be decided on the day of the tournament) will be allowed any (stationary, sliding, spinning, hooking or jumping) kick or punch to the body. They will also be allowed any turning/roundhouse, crescent or hooking kick to the head. Lastly, they will be allowed to use any (Stationary, sliding, spinning, hooking or jumping) a ridge hand, back fist, hammer fist, upset/uppercut, cross and hook to the head. Keep in mind you are only allowed to strike the side and top of the helmet on the head. ***The Junior and Senior class's will be determined the day of the tournament based on age, rank and self-control.***
