Description
The Battle of Texas™ karate championships are held annually by Jesse and Cindy Benavidez and Al Garza’s Premier Martial Arts. The championships have been held annually since 1978. The 2018 tournament will be held in Galveston, Texas on February 3rd at the San Luis Convention Center.
Please come join us in celebrating Jesse Benavidez retirement from the Battle of Texas for 40 Years.
Tournament day doors will open at 8:00AM for registration. The Battle of Texas™ is TKO Rated and is an Amateur Organization Of Karate (AOK) “A” rated triple point tournament. : Unless indicated otherwise all 1st place sparing and kata 17 & Under Boys divisions will receive a magnificent solder Venetian Masquerade Mask. All 1st place Kata & Sparring girls 17 & Under will receive Crowns Medals will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place competitors in all other divisions. The 2017 AOK rules and procedures will be the standard.
Regulation Karate or Kung Fu Regulation Karate or Kung Fu uniforms must be worn, with uniform sleeves reaching the elbows. Soft foam type equipment, mouthpiece and headgear are mandatory in all divisions. Men must wear groin protections. The tournament will start promptly at 9:30 AM with the rules meeting. Specialty, 7 and under, dragon and black belt kata divisions will be the first to compete.

Tournament Novice Divisions
Two new divisions have been added for adult black belt tournament novices. F-43 and S-73 are Kata and Sparring divisions available to black belts who have competed in less than 7 tournaments. NOTE: No AOK points will be awarded for participation in these divisions.

New Breaking Events Added
New breaking events have been added for this year! We are offering Creative Open Breaking, Wood Power Breaking, and Concrete Power Breaking using Hand, Foot and Elbow techniques.
Have you already registered, but are interested in adding breaking to your list of events? Adding the additional events to your registration is easy. Just log into your TournamentTiger account, select your breaking divisions, and then checkout again. Your previous payments will automatically be credited to your balance and you will only be charged for the additional cost of your new events.
Are you new to breaking? Register for our 1st-time-breakers division. This event includes 2 boards in the registration price.
