Description
Tennessee State Hanmadang
World Classic Martial Arts is proud to be the host of the first Tennessee State Hanmadang. Our school has always supported other schools and students in their own martial art journeys. Being able to host the Tennessee Hanmadang for our state is an exciting opportunity for us that aligns with our school’s goals and mission. We uphold the five tenants of martial arts: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. We believe in inclusiveness, diversity, and availability of martial arts to all.
Our competition is a celebration of all forms of martial arts. It is for all ages, fitness levels, and belt ranks. Sparring is very well known as an Olympic sport. However, because of the high skill level and physical conditioning needed to be successful at sparring, the average school in the United States only has approximately 10% of the student body participating in sparring class and competitions. The Hanmadang events are for the other 90% of students who do not participate in sparring. Many martial art students are families and children who train together to have regular exercise, reinforce family values, and learn valuable self-defense skills. The Hanmadang is specifically created to give them the opportunity to compete and work as a team.
The Tennessee Hanmadang offers the opportunity for the 90% to showcase their skills in traditional forms, creative forms, creative board breaking, power breaking, and demonstration team events. Parents, grandparents, children, uncles and aunts can create teams and participate together. This is a unique opportunity for families to participate together.

Board Fees
The organizing committee would like to thank you for your participation in the Tennessee State Hanmadang! In order to keep registration prices low, we are asking participants who compete in board breaking events to pay a small extra fee to cover the cost of their boards. In order to make this easier, we have decided to charge a flat board fee (except for power breaking) which will cover all board costs for that event.
For Individual Creative Breaking (Kyukpa), participants will be allowed to break up to 6 boards. They will be charged $10 for their boards, no matter the number you break. The board fee will be added to your total when registering for this event.
Individual Spinning Hook Kick, will be charged $10 for their boards, no matter the number you break. The board fee will be added to your total when registering for this event.
Individual Jumping High Kick participants will be charged $5 for their boards, no matter the number you break. The board fee will be added to your total when registering for this event.
All Power Breaking participants will need to pay $2 per board for their breaks. Boards will be available for purchase during online registration and on site before the event.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
