FAQ
What is the annual subscription fee?
Certain hosting plans may have a yearly subscription fee which is due when you sign up and will renew each year in order to maintain access to the system. This fee covers your initial setup as well as maintains your access to tournament data, even if you decide not to host a tournament that year. Note that you may host as many tournaments per year as you wish and the pricing won't go up.
What is the Service Rate?
TournamentTiger™ works using a revenue share model. This means that you pay us a percentage of each transaction that is processed through TournamentTiger™. The service rate is the percentage that you pay us for each transaction. This rate includes the cost of processing credit cards and/or ACH payments and may also include an additional small charge per transaction. Other than the annual subscription charge (if your plan has one), we do not charge any other fees to use the system.
If you wish to accept cash payments and/or offer free registration, please let us know during your tournament configuration so we can set this up for you. Cash payments will be billed at your plan rate, less the standard credit card processing fee of 2.9%. If a substantial number of your competitors are free, or you need to pass the service fee on to the participant, we can work with you to come up with an alternative payment arrangement. In certain cases, we may choose to charge the participant the service fee instead of charging the tournament host. This will be the case for small transactions upto $5 and we will always clearly identify this charge when they are checking out. This is done to ensure that small purchases do not result in you losing money on the transaction. Small transactions are not common, but can occur when a participant decides to modify their registration after their initial purchase and ends up with a small balance due.
For example, let’s assume you charge your participants $50.00 to participate in your tournament. Lets also assume you have chosen a plan with a service rate of 7.5% + $0.49 per transaction. When a participant registers for your tournament, they will be charged $50. Your service fee of $4.24 is deducted from $50 and you will receive $45.76.
NOTE: There may be other fees associated with your merchant account for charge backs, should those occur, however they are not charged by TournamentTiger™. Please see the WePay site for details regarding their fee schedule.
Are there minimum charges to use the system?
TournamentTiger™ only charges the Service Rate for each transaction, plus the yearly subscription rate (if your plan has one). TournamentTiger™ does not charge minimum monthly subscription fees, inactivity fees, or other account fees. We do not require that you host a specific number of tournaments per year. We do not require or limit the number of events in your tournament or even the number of participants that can register for your tournaments.
Although these are not fees, we do have a handful of other minimum transaction amounts of which you need to be aware.
- The minimum transaction amount is $0.99.
- The minimum registration price for the first event is $20.00.
- The minimum registration price for additional events is $5.00.
- The minimum price for a product is $0.99.
Can I cancel at any time?
TournamentTiger™ does not require any contracts and will not charge you a termination fee. You may cancel your hosting plan at any time. However, we will not issue a refund for any remaining time you may have left. You will retain access to the system until such time as your current subscription expires. At that time, your subscription will not automatically renew and you will no longer be able to host new tournaments. If you cancel your subscription, we reserve the right to discard any or all data associated with your account including tournament data.
